Response to What is Rescue Medication?

Rescue medication or standby pack is a term used for a short course of acute treatment that some people can keep at home and take if they become unwell with their chest.  It usually contains a course of antibiotics and steroids (prednisolone).  These packs are not suitable for everyone, so please check with you GP / specialist respiratory team.  We would encourage you to contact a health professional before you start taking any rescue medication to ensure you are taking the right medications at the right time.
